The English football team plays its home games at Stamford Bridge. Due to the lack of room for a large scale expansion, it has meant that the club has frequently looked at moving. The most major expansion of Stamford Bridge came while the club was owned by Ken Bates.
Chelsea famously looked at purchasing Battersea power station , which is located on the opposite side dog the River Thames from the area of Cheksea and Kensington. The deal if it had gone through would have been planned to convert the power station into a 60,000 stadium.
Stamford Bridge for a number of seasons wasn't considered one of the larger stadiums in England. This meant that Chelsea struggled to achieve regular attendances over 40,000 since the stadium became all seated. The clubs support however in foreign countries and the clubs overall popularity has grown during the Abramovic era.
The club is best known for its rivalry with West Ham. This dates back to the 1970s when both clubs had a number of hooligans.In more recent times the club has frequently played local rivals Arsenal in a number of key games such as FA Cup finals.
